SEVEN Linen Cover, Front Plate.
Yesterday we released SEVEN, my first fine art book, for Pre-Orders. We released it in two limited editions and within hours the first 100, a special dustjacketed edition, were long gone, which throws a wrench in my plans because now we have to re-jig the marketing. A beautiful problem to have and a small price to pay for the thrill of seeing so many people support my work with such enthusiasm. I’m extremely grateful. What’s left of the very limited edition of this book – there will only be 1,000 – are available in the original Limited Edition.
SEVEN is a retrospective collection of the personal work I’ve done over the last 7 years on 7 seven continents. This is a limited edition book and once those 1,000 signed and numbered copies are gone, they’re gone.
SEVEN, Limited Edition
- Limited to 1000 copies, hand signed and numbered.
- 12″ x 12″, 160 pages bound in gorgeous warm Italian linen.
- Printed in Canada on gorgeous 100lb McCoy Silk Text stock, at 10 microns.
- These are shipped, with a tracking number, in a custom-made double-walled cardboard mailer.
- $90 + S/H.
Note: Shipping and handling (S+H) rates are: United States ($25), Canada ($15), and International ($70) – estimated to arrive, with a tracking number, within 14-days.
We’re taking orders now, with payment in full. The book is at the printers and we’re so close we can taste it. We’re expecting to take delivery, sign them, and ship them in the first week of June. We’ll send an email to each purchaser, with tracking numbers, the moment these ship, but you’ll get a confirmation from us the moment you reserve your copy.
I am truly proud of this. I created this as a legacy piece. I wanted to create something beautiful, inside and out. Something that was a delight to touch and hold. I wanted something that would inspire and show you the world the way I see it, in these fleeting glimpses of beauty, hope, and wonder. Unlike so much of what I publish, this is not an educational book. The book opens with a short essay about the gift of photography, and what follows is photograph after photograph, quietly captioned with location and date. I want, at the end of the day, my photographs to speak for themselves. I also believe that looking at, and studying, photographs, is some of the best education we can have in terms of making our own photographs.
I’m so proud to have a chance to put this into your hands, and as always so, so grateful to you for the chance to do what I love and have an audience for my work. Thank you. I hope you’ll celebrate with me and reserve a copy of your own.

Its like you read my thoughts! You appear to grasp so much
approximately this, such as you wrote the e book in it or something.
I think that you just can do with a few percent
to force the message house a little bit, but other than that,
this is excellent blog. A fantastic read. I’ll certainly be back.
i’m come for china . my english so bad .w looking you book and I very love this book . baceuse i love photograpfy.
Dear David,
This is a wonderful book to have and enjoy. Is the discount of $15 automatically available or is there a discount that has to be keyed in as you place the order.
Thanks
Amazing Work David,, Wishing you all the very best ahead in life 🙂

I have just ordered my copy of your book after thinking some time about the costs for sending them over to Switzerland. I finally decided to order one for the following reasons:
1) I get a signed book from you.
2) I most likely would never get a copy of your book in one of the book shops around here. And even when, I might pay as much as I pay now – as the book shop and everyone in between wants to have a share of the final price.
3) My wife convinced me that the postage has this price due to the weight of it. She told me stories about sending Swiss chocolate to North America, which tripled at least the price of this chocolate….
So I can’t wait to hold your new book in my hands!
I would love to preorder this wonderful book as I appreciate your work a lot. It’s a shame how expensive the delivery to Germany is, so I will wait for the book as a “standard” edition. The pictures are all that count 🙂 I would rather pay the delivery fee to you than to the delivery company – of course they shall have their share, too.
Can’t wait until it’s available here in bookstores. . Congratulations to your new “baby” 🙂
Cheers, Andreas
Thank you, Andreas. I understand your frustration. Just a quick note to let you know this book will ONLY be available as a limited edition. We will not be distributing it through any other channels. Once these thousand are gone, there are no plans to release a standard edition of any kind.
Just preordered my copy! Can’t wait to get the email saying its on its way.
Your writing and teaching has been an inspiration to all of us. I’m close to starting an adventure of my own, and I can honestly say without your dedication to teaching from the heart, I wouldn’t be where I am. It feels good to give back. Thanks, and congrats!
I’m glad your sale swa success. I was looking forward to the special limited edition for the print and the eBook. Sadly, I wasn’t fast enough and missed out. I’m sure the book alone is gorgeous but I’ve spent the last year de-cluttering my life and realizing that I have to be pretty strict about the amount of books I have.
Hey David,
Great to see the book come to fruition. Culmination of effort, determination and a true desire to create. Your energy and enthusiasm are indeed inspirational. Keep the fires burning!!
Best,
Craig
I could not resist purchasing a copy. I love your photos and this will be my first art book purchase of photography. I am looking forward to showing it to friends and family. Also know it will be a great source of inspiration.
Congratulations!
For those for whom shipping costs are prohibitive, I’m sorry. We don’t mark up our shipping costs. We spent weeks getting quotes from FedEx and DHL and UPS and finally from Canada Post and this was hands-down the best shipping rate we could get and still have a tracking number. We’re a small company and don’t get the kind of rates that Amazon does. I wish we could have done something else, but the costs of shipping such a large book in an even larger box are high. I would truly like to get this book into as many hands as possible. I kept my mark-up on the book low, and offered a discount to help further, but prices are what prices are. I’m sincerely sorry that this will prevent some of you from getting your hands on the book.
Hello David,
I do admire Your works, have all books but this time I have to give it up. Shipping costs being almost same as book is a way to high. Is it possible, is there any chance to get it at reasonable price?
Tomek
Hello,
First off I should say I am an admirer of your work.
I’ve purchased 3 books from ypu, some ebooks from Craft&Vision and I am a subscriber to PHOTOGRAPH magazine.
I am interested in purchasing the book but was somewhat surprised that the shipping cost to Portugal is 70$.
I’ve bought fine art books from all over the world and have not seen a shipping cost like this.
In this case is almost 95% increase over the price of the book itself.
I would pay as much for the shipping service as for the art.
I am sorry but this makes my purchase very unlikely.
I hope you understand my remarks,
WBR,
João Ferreira
I understand your remarks and I wish I could do something otherwise. Please see my comment below.
Hi David, I would have loved to get a copy of your book however paying $ 70 for a book shippment is just to much. This cannot be a reasonable price.
Please let me know whether this is correct.
It is correct. I wish it were cheaper. Please, see my comment below.
Hi David! I would have loved to get a copy of your book but paying $ 70 for a book shippment is just tooo expensive and only $5 less than your preorder price of th ebook itself. Please let me know if you come up with a cheaper shipping rate for Switzerland.
Markus, see my comment below.
Hi David! Thanks for your information regarding the shipping. Could you maybe get me a quote how much the shipping of 10 books to Switzerland would cost and/or how many books (all packed and ready to send) could be shipped at the rate of $ 70.–. Considering your eBook sales; do you know roughly how many admirers you have in Switzerland? Maybe I could help you/us out to reduce the international shipping rate somewhat. I would have to get back to you once I’ve got a quote to let you know what a book would cost including custom duties and shipment within Switzerland.
Ordered from Australia. Looking forward to receiving it.
Congratulations David.
Ordered it – and really looking forward to having some of your work in my collection.
David, congratulations on the success of the pre-release; I never doubted they would go like hotcakes. I’ll confess that I am so happy to for once be on the right side of the globe in terms of timezones to get my paws on one of the very limited order ones. Absolutely thrilled and will be awaiting the shipment with great delight. You have inspired me in my photography over the years, so it was time to put my money where my mouth is. Inspiration, support and a collector’s item all in one.
David I have just placed a pre-order for the book. Partly because I feel I owe you a debt of gratitude for the inspiration you’ve given me over the years and want to support you. But also because I know this will be a damn fine piece of art I can enjoy for years to come.
Thank you, Bryan, the gratitude is all mine. It’s been an amazing experience and knowing that this book will sit on 1,000 coffee tables around the world blows my mind. Thank you.
I’m so looking forward to finding Seven at my doorstep! Thanks, David.
Thank you, Anna. 🙂
So glad that I was able to order a copy of Seven. You offer a unique and special part of yourself every time you post on your blog, write a book, or eBook, and so generously share your experiences and wisdom. All the best on the sale of your newest creation. I can hardly wait to hold it in my hands and pour over your beautiful images. As always, thanks for your inspiration.
Thank you, Marion. Was great to meet you the other day. See you in NB, right?
Hey David
Congrats on the pending release of your book, and for selling out the Super Limited Edition so quickly. Just placed my order for the LE and looking forward to seeing it.
Jason, Jeff, and Jay – thank you so much for your support!
Darn! I guess that’s what you get for waiting too long (wanted the limited limited edition). I guess I”ll have to settle for just the 101~1000 copy 🙂 Great work David! I can’t wait to add this to my collection.
This looks incredible, David. Your work has been a major influence for me and has helped me follow my dreams. Thank you for that. I may have to get this for my ever growing inspiration library. Keep up the great work.
