August wallpapers are here, in both 2560×1600 and 1280×853.
I shot this in Gasworks Park in Seattle as a creative exercise exploring abstracts on a theme – the theme of this simply being blue. This is a closer view of larger piece of machinery, de-focused to allow the shapes and colours to interact without the need to be something specific. Not my usual thing but in the coming year there’s a good chance you’ll see a little more of this as I work at stirring my own paint creatively.
I’m in Iceland until the 9th 0r 10th. With any luck I’ll check in with you but don’t hold your breath! 🙂
Click the image above for the smaller wallpaper. Click HERE for the larger one.
This is actually a cool idea, and I’ll try that myself! Thanks David! I mean the heavily “unfocused” thing 🙂
The one thing that bothers me though is that this heavy blur makes my eyes strain to see something there. Maybe if in this same scenario, only a tiny part was in focus it wouldn’t happen because eye would find an anchor.
(…now if you remove one overly-enthusiastic comment, the “outliers” won’t skew the average & you can have a more accurate analysis). 🙂
I just removed a comment left anonymously as “Be Careful” – so I’m leaving this as a reminder that anonymous criticism will simply be disregarded and deleted without prejudice. Play nice or go spread your cheer on someone else’s blog. Sheesh. Life is too short. You don’t like the wallpaper, go find one you do like.
Criticism is welcome, but not anonymously. And hey, it’s just a wallpaper image, not the Mona Lisa. Relax.
Last time I checked, you can move the icons on a Windows machine. 🙂
Sorry about the placement of the calendar, folks. I don’t even know what a Windows screen looks like anymore. A bit of an oversight on my part. I’ll try to be conscious of this next month. 🙂
Nice wallpaper I was just talking the other day about shooting absract images for wallpapers, but you´ve beaten me to it 🙂
Love the background but I agree with Chintan, the calendar doesn’t work with a Windows desktop. Icons get in the way.

Re: “stirring my own paint creatively” – you have a way with words which I very much appreciate! I do a fair amount of abstract and “creative edit” work and I’ll look forward to seeing what your “stirring” produces.
This is a great one! I especially love that the calendar is on the left side because I always keep my desktop items on the right.
Can’t wait to hear and see all about Iceland!
I like that the calendar is on bottom left which works great for me as a Mac user but i dont know if Windows users would like it very much because their icons will overlap the calendar.
